Tampines Soka Centre

Tampines Soka Centre (TSC), SSA's sixth centre, had it's ground breaking ceremony conducted on 12 Jan 1997.  It was built right beside the current Soka Kindergarten which at that time was known as An-Le Temple and Tampines Soka Centre.  The An-Le Temple then was the very first of it's kind in the world

TSC was officially opened together with Soka Kindergarten (Soka Kindergarten was relocated from Pasir Panjang Soka Centre which is now known as Soka Youth Centre) on February 8, 1988 by Mr. Yatiman Yusof, Senor Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Information and the Arts, and Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC.  TSC was then officially opened and named as SSA An-Le Temple.

Note:-  So TSC and An-Le Temple was originally associated with the building at Soka Kindergarten.  When TSC was opened, it took the name of SSA An Le Temple but not TSC.  It is only following the opening of Senja Centre where the AnLe Temple was relocated to, that TSC now gets it current name.

The 3 storey building has rooms whose names carries the theme of precious stones.  On level 1 is the Diamond Hall where wedding ceremonies are held.  On the Second storey is an auditorium, the Mentor Auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 people.  There is a basement car park with 20 parking lots.

TSC, Model to Building

Fronting the Building are 7 large ten-meter Roman Columns ...

..  and 4 smaller 4 meter ones.

The Soka Training School is now set up in this center to provide training for members and leaders to upgrade their skills and to provide a platform for life-long learning.

Learning from the TSC Spirit

Some members wonder why there isn't any centres in the North.  Why must we build TSC and Soka Kindergarten side by side.  In fact it wasn't in the organization's plan to build TSC beside the Soka Kindergarten in the late 90's.  At that time the Soka Kindergarten was actually our An Le Temple.  After knowing that the IS group decides to bid for the land beside An Le Temple to build their temple, the organization knows that it is their mission to rise to prevent it from happening.

In the Gosho, Nichiren Daishonin writes:

"The great teacher T'ien-t'ai, in his commentary, said that to accept and to put faith in the doctrines of evil teachers is the same as drinking poison.  You must be aware of this!  You must beware indeed!" -- Embracing the Lotus Sutra, WND, pg 61,

    Ikeda Sensei also wrote

"We must take the enemies of the Buddha to task. We absolutely cannot remain silent when we see people distorting and corrupting the Daishonin’s teaching. To speak out resolutely and clarify what is correct and what is erroneous is the Soka Gakkai spirit. If we simply try to be amiable and avoid making waves, then we will play right into the hands of people with malicious intent." -- For Today and Tomorrow- March 15, Daisaku Ikeda

Likewise  Makiguchi Sensei and Plato said something like the following,

To not stop evil is to condone evil.  A person who sees evil and does not stop it is, in actual fact, does 10 times more evil than the person committing the act.

It is crystal clear that the current priesthood goes against the teachings of the Daishonin.  As true disciples and inheritors of the Law, we must courageously rise up against any acts of evil especially those that try to corrupt the eternal pure flow of the Law.  Not condoning evil and rising up against it --  This is the TSC spirit!
